Kwaku Boateng
Kwaku Boateng went from sliding to the fifth round of the 2017 CFL Draft - initially ranked the #1 Canadian university prospect - to becoming the league’s premier Canadian pass rusher.
After a standout 2017 season, Boateng earned EE's Rookie of the Year honours. He was also twice named Edmonton's Most Outstanding Canadian in 2018 and 2019. Not to mention, in 2019 Kwaku agreed to the largest jump in salary, for a player on an entry level deal, in CFL history. In 2020, Kwaku became the highest paid Non-Quarterback in the CFL.
Despite all of his success in the CFL, Kwaku’s NFL dreams were never fully realized. However, he was invited to camp and workouts with NFL clubs such as: Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, LA Chargers, Washington Commanders, New York Jets and Giants.
Boateng prides himself on his athletic ability, as well as his intellect. While working towards his Honours BBA at Wilfrid Laurier University, Boateng played four years with the Golden Hawks and was a four-time Academic All-Canadian.
In 2018, Kwaku graduated from Laurier's Honours BBA Co-op program with distinction - majoring in accounting and finance, with a minor in economics. Boateng's experience with firms like Kik Interactive, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Sun Life Financial have shaped his unique understanding of finance.
In his final year at WLU, he became a Yates Cup Champion and Laurier's All Time Sack Leader. In 2021, Boateng was inducted into the Golden Hawk Hall of Fame and honoured as a Laurier Football Legend. A year later, Boateng was inducted into Milton’s Walk of Fame.
Kwaku made the decision, in 2023, to retire from professional football - to protect his health. He now spends his time working with athletes, helping them succeed on and off the field.
When Kwaku Boateng is not tackling a member's needs, he is investing in real estate.
